Walmart does not publish when it restocks Pokémon cards, and there is no official restock day for stores or for Walmart.com. Timing differs from store to store, so the best plan is to check your store in the Walmart app, ask staff, watch new set release dates, and enter Walmart's online drawings for the hardest-to-get items.
Is there a set restock day for Pokémon cards at Walmart?
No official one. We checked Walmart's help pages and found no restock day or time for trading cards. Walmart's Event Support page says only that popular items "may sell out quickly or may not be available in all locations," and suggests selecting a different Walmart store to see if the item is available nearby.
Blogs and forum posts that name a "Walmart restock day" are reporting what some shoppers saw at some stores. A pattern at one store may not hold at yours.
Why people say Thursday morning or Wednesday night
Two days come up again and again. Neither one comes from Walmart.
Thursday morning (in stores). This idea spreads through collector forums and restock blogs. We found no Walmart source for it, and we could not confirm any in-store day.
Wednesday night (online). This is about Walmart.com, not store shelves. The restock tracker Restockd says it has seen larger Walmart.com release waves "around Wednesday at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT," but also that "Walmart does not restock every Wednesday." That is the tracker's own data, not a Walmart schedule.
Who stocks the cards at Walmart
We found no Walmart statement about who stocks its trading card aisle. Here is what news reports and collectors say.
- In May 2021, Vice reported, based on a talk with a Walmart employee in South Carolina, that Pokémon cards "aren't distributed by Walmart but serviced by a special vendor who comes in and stocks the shelves."
- In June 2021, a KOKH Fox 25 staff writer in Oklahoma waited nearly six hours at a Walmart for cards. A fellow shopper told the writer that the woman who stocks the cards works for Anderson Merchandisers, "a third-party company that does a lot of things at Walmart." Just before noon, a pallet of white boxes marked "MJ Holding" reached the aisle, with that woman and several Walmart employees.
- You will see company names online for who stocks Walmart's card aisle. We found no statement from Walmart or any vendor that confirms one, so treat those names as collector reports.
If an outside company stocks the cards, timing likely depends on that company's routes, not on a store-wide day. That would explain why one Walmart gets cards on a different day than another one nearby.
How to find out when your Walmart restocks
These steps use Walmart's own tools and some common sense.
- Check your store in the Walmart app. Walmart says the app lets you "See if an item is in your store & check a price in a flash." Tap the Store map icon and search for an item. Walmart notes you need to be in the store, with location sharing on, to see an item's aisle location.
- Try nearby stores. Walmart's Event Support page suggests selecting a different Walmart store to see if a popular item is available nearby.
- Ask staff kindly. A team member may know if cards came in today. If an outside vendor stocks the cards, staff may not know when the next delivery is, so do not expect a promise.
- Watch release dates. New Pokémon TCG products launch on set dates, which The Pokémon Company posts on pokemon.com. For example, the Mega Evolution Delta Reign expansion releases on November 6, 2026. For its October 2026 products, Pokémon said to look for them "at the Pokémon Center and where other Pokémon TCG products are sold as they release."
- Share what you see. If you spot a restock, report it so other collectors near you know. You can also sign up for alerts.
Walmart.com online drops, queues and drawings
Walmart sells Pokémon cards online too. Here is how high-demand online sales work.
Queues. Walmart's Event Support page says you "may be placed into a queue when trying to buy popular items." It calls this a virtual line. It also warns that "the item may sell out before checkout is complete."
Drawings. For some high-demand items, Walmart now uses drawings instead of first-come sales. Dexerto reported that Walmart started its Collectibles Drawing for Pokémon products on August 31, 2026, with a Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box priced at $69.99. Kotaku also covered the launch. Walmart's Drawing rules and FAQs page says:
- You need a Walmart account. Entry is free, and you can enter each drawing once.
- You choose your shipping address, payment method and quantity before you enter. You cannot change or cancel an entry.
- Winners are picked at random after the entry period closes. Walmart may remove entries it believes involve fraud or abuse.
- If you are selected, Walmart places the order for you. You are only charged if the order goes through.
When we checked on October 20, 2026, Walmart's Collectibles Drawing page listed Pokémon TCG items such as a 30th Celebration Booster Bundle 2-pack and a Scarlet & Violet Unova Poster Collection box. Each drawing shows its own entry period and timeline before you enter.
Marketplace sellers. Outside Marketplace sellers also list trading cards on Walmart.com, and Walmart requires them to state each card's condition. Check who the seller is before you buy.
What Walmart says vs what collectors report

Purchase limits at Walmart
Limits change. Here is what has been reported, with dates.
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| May 2021 | A photo posted online showed a sign at one Arizona Walmart telling card vendors that trading card sales were suspended. Walmart said, "We have not suspended the sale of any trading cards." | Vice, Anime News Network |
| November 5, 2025 | Reported internal memo: a limit of five trading card packages per visit, covering Pokémon and other trading cards | Kotaku, Dexerto (based on a reported memo) |
| August 31, 2026 | First Pokémon item offered through Walmart's Collectibles Drawing | Dexerto |
| Ongoing | Walmart.com "reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased per person, household, or order" | Walmart Help |
Kotaku reported that the five-package limit came about a week after a TikTok video, with over 12 million views, that appeared to show one shopper buying a whole display of Pokémon cards at a Las Vegas Walmart. Walmart's online help also says it reserves "the right to prohibit dealers or resellers."
Before you shop, look for a limit on the product page or a sign at the card display. To compare how limits work at vending machines, see how Pokémon vending machines work.
Returns: Pokémon cards are final sale
Walmart's return policy page lists "Trading cards (opened or unopened)" among its final sale exceptions. Walmart's drawing rules also say items bought through a drawing "may not be returnable." Check that the box is sealed and is the product you want before you pay. This matters most for parents buying a gift.
Other places to look
Walmart is only one option. Many grocery stores now have official Pokémon TCG vending machines.
We list more than 2,000 machines, almost all in grocery stores such as Safeway, Kroger, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco and Fred Meyer stores. Find one on our vending machine map, read when Pokémon vending machines restock, and check vending machine prices.

Common questions
What day does Walmart restock Pokémon cards?
Walmart has not published a restock day or time for Pokémon cards, in stores or online. Walmart's Event Support help page only says popular items may sell out quickly or may not be available in all locations, and suggests checking a different Walmart store.
Can I return Pokémon cards to Walmart?
No. Walmart's return policy page lists "Trading cards (opened or unopened)" among its final sale exceptions, so sealed packs are included too.
What is the Walmart Pokémon card drawing?
Walmart's Drawing rules and FAQs page says a drawing gives customers a chance to buy select high-demand items. Entry is free, winners are picked at random after entries close, and Walmart places the order for you if you are selected. Dexerto reported that the first Pokémon drawing, for a $69.99 Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box, ran on August 31, 2026.
Is there a limit on how many Pokémon cards I can buy at Walmart?
Kotaku and Dexerto reported in November 2025 that an internal Walmart memo set a limit of five trading card packages per visit, starting November 5, 2025. Kotaku said it had asked Walmart for comment. Walmart's Quantity Limits help page also says Walmart.com can limit how many of an item one person, household or order can buy.
